Your sauna.
Your pre-tax
dollars.
Barrel saunas, cold plunges, and hot tubs from Saunest Pittsburgh may qualify as HSA/FSA-eligible medical expenses — meaning you could save 25–40% on your investment in health.
Three steps to tax-free savings
You purchase through our site with any card, just like a normal transaction. Then you get a Letter of Medical Necessity through Truemed and submit it to your HSA/FSA administrator for reimbursement. Here is the full process.
Buy with Any Card
Complete your purchase on our site with any credit or debit card, exactly as normal. You will receive an emailed receipt — keep it, you will need it for your reimbursement claim.
Get Your LMN via Truemed
Visit Truemed and complete a short, secure online health survey — no in-person visit required. A licensed clinician reviews it and, if you qualify, issues your Letter of Medical Necessity within 24–48 hours. A one-time $30 fee applies, and only if you are approved.
Submit & Get Reimbursed
Send your receipt and LMN to your HSA/FSA administrator. Most reimbursements process within a few days — customers typically recover 25–40% of the purchase price in pre-tax savings.
Questions about your specific plan? Your HSA/FSA administrator can confirm reimbursement eligibility before you buy. You can also reach Truemed's support team at support@truemed.com with any questions about the LMN process. A licensed clinician makes the final eligibility determination based on your individual health circumstances.
Saunest Pittsburgh works with Truemed, the leading HSA/FSA eligibility platform trusted by health and wellness brands like Therabody, AG1, Eight Sleep, and Hyperice, to make qualification and reimbursement seamless. Truemed offers a reimbursement guarantee: if a purchase outlined in your LMN is rejected, their team works to ensure you receive the full amount you should have saved.

May Qualify with LMNHSA & FSA: what you need to know
Not automatically — saunas are not on the IRS's standard list of pre-approved medical expenses. However, they may become eligible with a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) issued by a licensed clinician. The LMN documents why the sauna is medically appropriate for your specific diagnosed condition, which satisfies IRS requirements. Truemed makes this process simple and fully online.
An LMN is a document issued by an independent, licensed clinician confirming that a product is medically appropriate for a diagnosed health condition. Under IRS Section 213(d), products that diagnose, cure, mitigate, treat, or prevent a medical condition can qualify as HSA/FSA-eligible medical expenses when substantiated by an LMN. Truemed's clinician network handles LMN issuance — no in-person doctor's visit required. LMNs are valid for 12 months.
Savings depend on your individual tax rate, but most customers save between 25–40% on their purchase. Since HSA/FSA funds are contributed pre-tax, you are effectively spending money before it is taxed. For a $5,000 barrel sauna, that could mean roughly $1,250–$2,000 in real savings — money you would otherwise have paid in federal and state income taxes.
An HSA (Health Savings Account) is typically tied to a high-deductible health plan. Funds roll over year to year and grow tax-free. For 2026, individuals can contribute up to $4,400/year and families up to $8,750/year. An FSA (Flexible Spending Account) is set up through your employer and does not require a high-deductible plan. Funds are typically use-it-or-lose-it each year, with a 2026 individual limit of $3,400. Both can be used for eligible purchases with an LMN through Truemed.
You can submit for partial reimbursement. For example, if your purchase is $5,000 and you have $2,000 in your HSA/FSA, you can reimburse $2,000 tax-free and pay the remaining $3,000 out of pocket. There is no requirement to reimburse the full amount.
Yes. Any licensed clinician can write an LMN. If you already have a doctor who can document a medical need for sauna or cold therapy — for a condition such as chronic pain, cardiovascular health, or inflammation — you can submit their letter along with your receipt directly to your HSA/FSA administrator. Truemed simply makes the process faster and fully online for those who prefer it.
Yes. Truemed uses industry-leading security standards and regular third-party audits to protect your personal health information. The health survey and clinical review are handled entirely by Truemed's independent licensed practitioners, not by Saunest Pittsburgh. We never see your health information.
Absolutely — you can purchase at any time. If you are planning ahead, most Americans enroll in HSA/FSA accounts during open enrollment (typically October–November for the following calendar year). If you purchase now and plan to open an account, ask your benefits administrator about the timing of eligible expenses.
